What Do You Want? What Are You Willing To Give Up?
Everyone Wants Something!
So you want something – that is, something you don’t already have…
Here is the KEY question; what are you willing to GIVE UP to get it?
Here’s the deal:
You’ve probably heard the statement: “If you continue to do what you have always done, you will continue to get what you’ve always got!”
It might not be the best grammar, but you get the point… I mean, you can’t expect to keep doing the same things and expect different results, can you?
I bet you have a few goals. Maybe you want to make more money. Why? So you can buy something, pay off debts, move to a new location. Whatever.
Maybe you want to lose weight. Why? To feel better, look better, be more active, fit in your old clothes.
Maybe you want to change jobs – or start your own home-based business. Why? So you can work with better people, control your own hours, work from home (and eliminate your commute) and have more time for family.
Regardless of your goal (or goals), the point is that you WILL NOT achieve any of them if you do not do SOMETHING different than what you are doing NOW!
This is a FACT!
For example, if you want to earn more money on your current job you are going to have to work more hours, produce more, or take on more responsibilities. (Try asking for a raise without making yourself more valuable to your employer! Good luck!)
If you want to lose weight there is a simple formula that works EVERY TIME: take in fewer calories and burn more calories.
If you want to start your own business, you are going to need to take several actions:
1. Choose a business.
2. Set up all the logistics, products, systems, suppliers, etc.
3. Dedicate the required time to accomplish the set-up functions, as well as the time needed for operations.
But – again – the key to reaching your goals is ALSO recognizing what you need to give up.
If you are going to work more hours at your job (in order to produce more and earn more money), you are going to need to cut something out of your schedule. It’s a choice you need to make. Less time with family, fewer hours of recreation, or less time sleeping!
If you are going to lose weight, you need to cut out fatty snacks, sugary sodas, and super-sized meals. You are also going to need to find the time for more exercise – and that means less time sitting around watching TV or playing video games.
If you are going to start a business, you are going to need to divert money from saving, investments, or vacations to fund your venture. In conventional businesses, you are going to get paid LAST – after your employees, suppliers, landlord, etc.
So what are your goals? What are you willing to give up to achieve these goals?
Here is the truth: if you are not willing to sacrifice SOMETHING, save your time. You are defeated before you even begin!
P.S. If you want to earn more money, and are willing to invest 10 to 15 hours per week, you can start a part-time, home-based business. Check out the Making Money section of my blog.
